Congratulations to the players and managers of the 11A Saturday and 12 Major teams who were successful in their cup finals at the AUL Complex on Saturday.
The 12 Major were first into action when they took on Shamrock Rovers in the Tony Ryan Cup final. The Orchard went ahead after 20 minutes through Jamie Lee, only for Shamrock Rovers to equalise six minutes later. There was no further scoring during normal time and so the game went to extra-time. Cian Kelly put the Orchard ahead from the penalty spot four minutes in, after Jamie Lee was taken down in the box and Cian then scored his second goal to leave his team 3-1 up at half-time in extra-time. Rovers pulled a goal back three minutes from time, but it was not enough to prevent the Orchard from taking home the cup.
In the Condron Cup final, Bobby Pakenham was on the mark after seven minutes for the 11A Saturday side against Stella Maris. Bobby added a second goal two minutes before half-time and John O'Sullivan made it 3-0 ten minutes after the break. Jamie O'Connor completed the scoring five minutes later for an Orchard team that was impressive throughout.
